Love Being Connected to Earth
Apr 22, 2024Tomorrow is Earth Day! I really love Earth Day because it has been a time of powerful connection for me in the past and I feel like everyday could/should be Earth Day!
Here is a poem to honor the Earth on this day by the fabulous Mary Oliver:
Sleeping in the Forest
I thought the earth
remembered me, she
took me back so tenderly, arranging
her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds. I slept
as never before, a stone
on the riverbed, nothing
between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated
light as moths among the branches
of the perfect trees. All night
I heard the small kingdoms breathing
around me, the insects, and the birds
who do their work in the darkness. All night
I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling
with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.
The Earth is a powerful teacher. Connection to the Earth is vital and yet our human trajectory separates us from the Earth.
This separation ultimately creates dis-ease.
Aligning with the rhythms of nature is the most simple and profound act of courage we can all take right now. Ayurveda invites us to connect with this ancient wisdom in ways that remain applicable to our modern wellbeing. If this embodiment is calling to you, to heal current imbalance and support aging gracefully, check out my year-long program for inspired women, the Vitality Circle. Doors are open for our next cohort until April 30. Claim your spot asap!
Please enjoy some time outside and connect with the spot on Earth where you are today. Let's cherish, and live in rhythm with, our precious Earth every day!
Much love and light,
Hannah
ps- We have a few spots open for the retreat I am leading in TN, May 9-12. Come celebrate the connection to the Earth through yoga, Ayurveda, and community. Learn more HERE.
