At Times Like This: Move AND Breathe
Feb 09, 2025
In this “hustle culture” we currently have, it’s just easier to start to work-work-work right away once we wake up. After all, there’s so much we have to do. And with all the current news in our country, it might be extra difficult to prioritize self-care, never mind relax and center ourselves.
Having the time to breathe and also move our muscles early in the morning can help us not stew in stress chemistry. Exercise benefits not just our physical health, but also our mental wellbeing. It truly makes sense, especially now, that we should prepare the body and mind before we enter our busy or stressful day. Don’t you agree?
This habit of mental and physical preparation for the day ahead is what we practice in Ayurveda. The fourth habit in the Vitality Circle is called “Breath Body Practices.” We move the body and breath to clear the channels, mobilize our energy, and support healthy metabolism.
Some of the things to consider are knowing your personal constitution and life stage, as well as the alignment with the season, so that we’ll know what types of Breath Body practices are best for YOU.
Once we make it a habit, the overall benefit is more than worth it. In the morning, don’t pick up your phone right away, instead, move first!
I hope this Ayurvedic practice resonates with you and helps you in these trying times. If you are curious about getting support for your evolving habits, and healing health issues naturally, set up a Clarity Call with me for when I get back from Costa Rica next week - I would love to support you!
